We are Losing it Together

with Biggest Loser Million Pound Matchup

Sami's Story

I was born and raised in Nebraska. I didn't have problems with my weight until puberty and even then I was never more then 5-10lbs over what I wanted. It wasn't until I graduated that I started having problems with my weight. I tried so many times to lose weight and it wasn't until I was in my mid 20's that I found out that I have PCOS. PCOS is a hormon disorder which causes weight problems along with a lot of other problems. I again tried to lose weight in May of 2006, after my boyfriend at the time asked me to marry him. I struggled with not only my weightloss but also trying to find a doctor to that would help me get my PCOS under control so that wouldn't have to struggle so hard with my weightloss. I finally found a doctor that would help me late in 2007. It took awhile for us to get the medications under control but I think we finally have it. I have lost 51 lbs in the last year and 7months. I am ready to lose the last 30 lbs!!! Oh and I as married in April of 2007 Photobucket

Brian's Story

I was born and raised in Lincoln NE. I have always been over weight and never really cared to lose weight until I was with Sami. She helped me realize how important it was for me to lose my weight and become healthy. at my heaviest I was 308 lbs. I am now 190 lbs. I am ready to hit my goal and live a healthy live for the rest of my life. Photobucket

Sami's Goals

Sami~~
Short term goal: 20 lbs
Long term goal: 30 lbs
And I want to get more toned and lower my body fat

Brian's Goals

Brian~~
Short and Long Term Goals:
Lose body fat and tone my chest arms and abs
Lose 10-15 lbs

How we do it

We currently follow the Weight Watchers diet. We just switched to doing the Core Plan with WW.
Sami also interacts with people on mspace that are also trying to lose weight. She believes in continued support and advice, both given and recieved
We also work out atleast 4-5 times each week! We started going to the gym and also have several Walk Away the Pounds DVDs so a swiss ball and free weights that we use. So we never have an excuse for not working out.

1/8/08~~
Well Brian and I went to the gym again tuesday. This makes 4 days in a row going to the gym and working out for atleast 1 hour. We did 10 minutes on the stair master Photobucket Photobucket and 15 minutes on the eliptical Photobucket Photobucket Followed by 20 minutes of laps in the pool. We finished with 10 minutes in the jacuzzi!!

Why we want this

So, there is the obvious reasons that everyone has to lose weight. We want to be healthy, look good, live long, shop in normal stores. And there are the obvious reasons for entering the BL's MPM also. To win the training and to go to CA. But for us it is more. We want children. Sami isn't able to have children at her current weight and has been told that there is a possiblilty we can have children if she loses her weight. She also had high blood pressure for a long time. Sami also just went to her grandmothers funeral on her 25th birthday last November, who was obese her whole adult life. We both have a huge family history of heavy set family members.Brian, at 27, is already having problems with his knees and ankles. For us it is more then just being healthy and looking good. It is our servival. And why the Million Pound Matchup? Well, that is more to us also. We have struggled for over 1 1/2 years. Come through so much together and this isn't just a trip to CA it is a Celebration for us. It is a celebration of closing one book and opening of another. And the Trainer is the education and motivation. Sami is going to college to become a teacher. She wants to teach highschool students about calories and working out and staying healthy in real life. She is also going to go for her personal training certificate. She wants to work as a personal trainer for those who can't afford a personal trainer. She wants personal training to become more of a hobby for her. And Brian, well don't count him out with the personal trainer. He wants to beef up that chest arms and abs and having a personal trainer to teach him what to do and how to do it is something that he looks forward to. Guess he figures his current personal trainer may not know what he is looking for (who by the way is Sami..lol)!! So, that is why we chose eachother because we understand why the other wants this better then anyone else and we support those reasons because we know those are true honest and great reasons to want this!!!

Working out

Well, Brian and I have been going to the gym every day since Saturday and I am loving it.  We have been there over an hour everyday doing cardio and working on either our upper body or lower body!!!  I am so glad we started going.  I can already feel a difference.  Saturday when I went I struggled to do the cardio and yesterday when we went I was able to do 25 mins of cardio without a problem.  Brian and I talked about it last night and he said he is feeling the same way.  Though he has struggled with the gym before we go.  He has thanked me both monday and tuesday for "making" him go.  He is under a lot of stress at work and when he gets home doesn't want to go but once he went he said he was glad he did.... Well, i let him tell all about it if he wants.   I am just happy that I started going and I know that I am ganing muscle and my cardio is getting better.~~Sami

My goals are a little more complex.  I would love to lose 15lbs.  But my main goal is to lose body fat and tone up.  If I lose weight in the process that is great

My goal is to lose 30more pounds.  I would also like to tone up in the process!!!
